PRICES

Registration for the Carbon Census costs £100, including VAT at 20%, plus a one-time fee of £5 to cover our print and postage costs. For the time being this is a flat rate charge for all properties up to 500 square metres and there is no longer a higher charge for landlords. For properties over this size, please contact us directly - we'll need to make special arrangements for you.

(We wish we didn't have to add the postage charge. Have a look at the P+P section for the reasons why we add this.)

We're aiming to deliver the best and most authoritative home energy advice in the UK, for about half the price of similar services that have been tested in the past. Cutting the cost by 50% while offering a much higher quality service is a real challenge, but we've had a bunch of new ideas about how to deliver this service, and after piloting the service for over a year we've found a way to do it.

The only thing we can't cover for £100 is the cost of shipping out to you the free products we offer for every household, so we have had to add the P+P charge to cover this cost. Of course, if you order other products from us at the same time there'll be no P+P, even if we can't fit them in the same box.

We’d love this service to be free!

But over the last year we have had a number of meetings with the government, and it's clear they have no plans – or funds – to carry out a national carbon census. So we decided to have a go ourselves, on a voluntary basis. We are supported by The Ashden Trust, but most of our costs do still have to be covered by charging a fee for each house we visit.
